Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education trains primary school students in analytical thinking through TKA
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is training primary school students to think analytically through the administration of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for those in the sixth grade.
Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq stated that the 30 questions in each subject tested in the TKA have been designed to sharpen students’ thinking abilities in solving problems logically, analytically, and systematically.
“The TKA question model is indeed designed to encourage students’ high-level thinking abilities, High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), because we hope these children truly have more analytical thinking skills in answering every question,” said Fajar after inspecting the implementation of the first wave of TKA for primary education at SDN 03 Rawa Buntu, South Tangerang City, Banten Province, on Monday.
Therefore, he continued, they chose a multiple-choice question model with some narrative-style questions for all TKA questions at every education level, including primary education.
In this way, he hopes that students will become accustomed to thinking analytically and not just have descriptive abilities in answering exam questions.
On the same occasion, a sixth-grade student from Class 6C at SDN 3 Rawa Buntu, Bunga Saskia, said that the 75-minute duration to complete the mathematics questions on the first day of the TKA was more than sufficient for her.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s enough, even more,” said Bunga.
According to her, there were several things that allowed her to complete the questions quickly, one of which was thorough preparation.
“In my opinion, the preparation was just like me taking notes and reading to retrain the lessons,” she said.
