Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education: TKA Results Can Be Utilised to Strengthen Education
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) states that the results of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) can be utilised appropriately to strengthen the quality of education in Indonesia. “We very much hope that all of you can also make good use of this data for accelerating the quality of education in our country,” said the Head of the Basic and Secondary Education Policy Agency (BKPDM) of Kemendikdasmen, Toni Toharudin, during the launch of the Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration Programme for Strengthening National Literacy and Numeracy in Jakarta on Thursday. Toni stated that the TKA for junior secondary school (SMP) level and equivalent, which began on Monday (6/4), is the state’s effort to map students’ abilities, including literacy, memorisation, character surveys, and learning surveys. In addition, he continued, the TKA is also conducted as an effort to intervene in gaps in mastering basic competencies, as seen in the scores of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). It is known that as of today, the TKA process is still ongoing and is scheduled to continue until 16 April 2026. The implementation of TKA for SMP level will take place from 6-16 April 2026, while TKA for primary school (SD) level will take place from 20-30 April 2026. Each participant will undergo the TKA exam over two days, with the first day testing mathematics and numeracy subjects as well as character surveys, and the second day testing Indonesian language literacy and sulingjar surveys (learning environment surveys). After completing the mathematics and numeracy subjects, participants will complete a 20-minute character survey.
