To reaffirm the library’s role as a literacy hub for students and peers, we have inaugurated SIBI and integrated it with Kemendikdasmen’s SLIMS.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has strengthened students’ literacy by launching the developed SIBI Corner, now integrated with the Senayan Library Management System (SLIMS).

Secretary-General of Kemendikdasmen Suharti said the ministry is working to reinforce libraries’ role as literacy hubs and spaces for critical discussion, particularly among young people.

“To reaffirm the library’s role as a literacy hub for students and peers, we have inaugurated SIBI and integrated it with Kemendikdasmen’s SLIMS,” Suharti said during the ‘Quality Book Review 2045 Hz Future Frequency of Indonesia’ event at the Kemendikdasmen Senayan Library in Jakarta on Monday.

Furthermore, SLIMS has been adopted by several countries in Central Asia, including Bangladesh.

“We hope the SIBI Corner will prove to be an innovation that strengthens and enhances literacy in Indonesia by providing quality books through this system,” Suharti said.

Additionally, he added that books on SIBI can be accessed, read, and downloaded for free.

“SIBI provides various book-related information, particularly curriculum-aligned textbooks used in educational institutions. The books available on SIBI are those that have been recommended and are the main textbooks according to the current curriculum,” he said.
