Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Provides Special Allowance of Rp6 Million to Disaster-Affected Teachers
Jakarta — The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is providing special allowances for teachers with civil servant (ASN) and non-civil servant (non-ASN) status affected by disasters in Sumatra of Rp2 million per month, distributed over three months starting from December 2025.
Jamjam Muzaki, representative of the National Secretariat of Disaster-Safe Educational Units (SPAB) at Kemendikdasmen, stated that the special allowance targets approximately 59,000 teachers, with distribution exceeding 50 per cent completion.
“For the special allowance, we estimate around 59,000 teachers, and approximately 36,000 have already received their payments,” said Jamjam during a Policy Dialogue event held by Kemendikdasmen in South Tangerang City, Banten Province, on Tuesday.
“So the total special allowance for affected teachers is approximately Rp6 million,” he added.
The three-month distribution period runs from December 2025 through February 2026.
Beyond the teacher allowances, Muzaki stated that the ministry will continue monitoring actual needs in post-disaster areas, particularly regarding new assistance proposals. He added that the ministry is targeting educational service recovery in flood and landslide-affected areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces within a three-year timeframe, aligned with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
“We are targeting this recovery period at three years, in line with BNPB,” said Jamjam Muzaki.
This year, the ministry is prioritising the restoration of educational facilities and infrastructure, supported by policy adjustments.
