The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has launched the Talenta Indonesia Scholarship for high-achieving students at the national and international level. The programme is designed to fund undergraduate (S1) or applied undergraduate (D4) studies, both domestically and overseas.

The launch was carried out through the National Achievement Centre (Puspresnas) in collaboration with the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) on Thursday, 19 February 2026. Secretary General of Kemendikdasmen Suharti described the scholarship as a form of state appreciation for students who have distinguished themselves through national and international competitions facilitated by Puspresnas.

"The Talenta Indonesia Scholarship represents the state's commitment to providing appreciation and continued facilitation for talented high-achieving students," Suharti said in a written statement on Friday, 20 February 2026.

According to her, the programme forms part of the implementation of student talent management and the broader national talent management framework. The government, she said, wishes to ensure continuity in talent development from basic and secondary education through to higher education.

The Talenta Indonesia Scholarship targets high-achieving students in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) as well as SHARE disciplines — social sciences, humanities, arts, religious studies, and economics.

Head of Puspresnas Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono explained that scholarship recipients are gold, silver, and bronze medal winners at the national level, as well as medal winners and honourable mention recipients at the international level in competitions organised or facilitated by Puspresnas throughout 2024–2025. The programme, Irene noted, also provides inclusive opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Registration is open until 2 May 2026 via an online platform. The government has called on award-winning students to pursue higher education with full state support.

LPDP Scholarship Director Dwi Larso said the collaboration aims to encourage high-achieving students to continue their education to the highest level.

The Talenta Indonesia Scholarship is fully funded. The funding scheme covers registration fees, tuition, book allowances, thesis support, transportation, monthly living costs, health insurance, and visa expenses for the overseas track.

The programme comprises two main pathways: the Overseas S1/D4 Scholarship for international competition achievers and the Domestic S1/D4 Scholarship for national competition achievers.

Kemendikdasmen stated that the programme is expected to strengthen the national talent pool to be globally competitive whilst fostering commitment to contributing to Indonesia's development towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
