Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is ensuring that nationally talented students receive sustained development support through higher education as part of the country’s national talent management system via the Indonesian Talent Scholarship (BTI) scheme.

Maria Veronica Irene, Head of the National Achievement Centre (Puspresnas) at Kemendikdasmen, stated in South Tangerang City, Banten on Monday that the programme is based on tracking conducted by Puspresnas of alumni who are high-achieving students.

The primary needs of high-achieving students, she said, are continuity in their educational careers and access to training for talent development.

The government, through Puspresnas Kemendikdasmen, has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that student achievement does not end at competitions but continues through capacity building and tangible contributions to the nation.

According to Irene, BTI is part of a sustainable national talent management system that does not stop at competitions alone but continues into appreciation and capitalisation stages.

The programme, she explained, is designed as a continuous cycle starting from talent identification, coaching, actualisation, appreciation, and capacity strengthening for genuine contributions.

“The scholarship here is part of appreciation whilst also serving to develop talent. So talent management does not stop at one cycle but becomes a loop, a continuous ongoing process, until these young people can eventually contribute to their communities and to Indonesia,” Irene stated.

She added that this commitment is strengthened through two strategic policies: the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Regulation Number 25 of 2025 on Student Talent Management and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Decision Number 16 of 2026 on Standards for Competition Implementation.

Talent identification is carried out by empowering schools to ensure no student is left behind in accessing opportunities to actualise their potential.

“The Minister’s directive reminds us that achievement must align with Quality Education for All. This means no one should be left behind in opportunity and access to actualise their talent,” Irene said.
