For the 2026 revitalisation programme, there has been a significant increase. Currently, cooperation agreements have been made for 25 educational institutions with a total budget exceeding Rp20.7 billion.

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has doubled the number of schools receiving the 2026 education revitalisation programme in Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua Province, as part of efforts to equalise education quality in 3T (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped) regions.

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the government’s attention to education in Teluk Bintuni is being strengthened through a significant increase in assistance allocation for 2026.

“For the 2026 revitalisation, there is a significant increase. Currently, cooperation agreements have been made for 25 educational institutions with a total budget exceeding Rp20.7 billion,” Mu’ti said in a written statement from Jakarta on Sunday.

Mu’ti emphasised that school revitalisation is not just physical construction but part of the state’s effort to deliver justice and education services to areas with the highest access challenges.

All construction will be carried out through the swakelola mechanism, as per President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, to ensure effective and targeted development while involving local communities in the process.

Teluk Bintuni Regent Yohanis Manibuy noted that the ministry’s visit is a great honour and a tangible sign of the central government’s attention to the future of human resources in West Papua.

“The Minister’s presence brings new motivation for us to continue building Papua’s human resources through education. This revitalisation programme greatly helps create safer, more comfortable, and suitable learning environments for our children. We hope this revitalisation support continues so all children in Teluk Bintuni have access to quality learning environments,” Yohanes said.

The programme’s impact is directly felt by Floriba Hurim, Headteacher of Manimeri State Junior High School 2.

She stated that revitalisation has brought significant improvements to the comfort and quality of learning at her school.
