Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has successfully completed the revitalisation of 349 schools under the 2025 Education Unit Revitalisation Programme and distributed 7,047 Interactive Flat Panels (IFP) in West Sumatra Province.

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the school revitalisation programme in West Sumatra Province was completed with a total budget of more than Rp306 billion, covering 31 early childhood education units (PAUD), 135 primary schools (SD), 93 junior secondary schools (SMP), 43 senior secondary schools (SMA), 16 vocational secondary schools (SMK), 21 special schools (SLB), and 10 extraordinary schools (SKB).

“The Education Unit Revitalisation Programme is Kemendikdasmen’s effort to support President Prabowo Subianto’s AstaCita in forming superior Indonesian human resources (SDM), as well as tangible proof in realising Quality Education for All,” said Minister Abdul Mu’ti in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday.

To realise Quality Education for All, he outlined Kemendikdasmen’s concrete steps in West Sumatra, including the distribution of 7,047 IFPs to 1,110 PAUD, 4,236 SD, 867 SMP, 350 SMA, 164 SMK, 187 SLB, and 133 SKB throughout 2025.

On the same occasion, the Minister also highlighted the 13-Year Compulsory Education Programme. According to him, quality education is not only about building infrastructure but also about building children’s character, which must start from an early age.

To that end, the ministry is expanding the Indonesia Pintar Programme (PIP) from the kindergarten level to more than 880,000 pupils with a value of Rp450,000 per child per year starting in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Lima Puluh Kota Regency, Safni Sikumbang, called on all residents to maintain, care for, and support the sustainability of all educational units so that they can have a positive impact on children in the regency.

“We are very grateful that this programme is a tangible manifestation of the government’s efforts to expand access to quality education in our region. This is an important step to improve the quality of educational facilities and infrastructure, so that the learning process in our area can run more optimally,” he said.
