Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Anticipates Potential Report Card Grade Inflation in Student Admission System
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is taking several steps to anticipate the potential for “mark-up” of student report card grades used in the Student Admission System (SPMB) achievement pathway.
Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Non-Formal and Informal Education at Kemendikdasmen, Gogot Suharwoto, stated that his side has so far taken preventive measures against the possibility of report card grade additions for students participating in the SPMB achievement pathway.
“So, we have prepared what is called e-Rapor, so that for SPMB, the data that can be retrieved comes from e-Rapor. At the very least, this can minimise marked-up report cards,” said Gogot during the Ngopi Bareng Dirjen PAUD Dikdas PNFI event in Central Jakarta on Thursday.
One of them is that his side has asked educational units to fill in student grades in e-Rapor periodically every semester and not to accumulate the filling at the end of the year.
Such a filling method, he said, not only prevents the practice of adding student grades but also anticipates errors in filling grades in e-Rapor.
Furthermore, his side has socialised incentives given by universities to schools that fill e-Rapor completely and periodically, namely an addition of quotas in the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway.
“There are incentives from universities to schools whose e-Rapor is complete, namely additional quotas in SNBP, additional quotas I don’t remember exactly, 10 or 20 percent addition,” he said.
If the public still finds violations or cheating during the SPMB implementation process, he said his side has an Integrated Service Unit (ULT) that receives various inputs or complaints of violations related to the implementation of policies made by Kemendikdasmen, including in SPMB.
“So if the public sees or hears of cheating, just report it. We have an Integrated Service Unit that will then be forwarded to the Inspectorate General, then the Inspectorate General will follow up in cooperation with the regional inspectorate,” said Gogot.
