Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Accelerates School Revitalisation, Focusing on 3T Areas Affected by Disasters
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PATI – The Indonesian Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to strengthen its commitment to improving the quality of educational services through the revitalisation programme for educational units. This programme is focused on schools requiring priority intervention, including those in underdeveloped areas and affected by disasters.
The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, stated that revitalisation is part of the national strategic policy to realise quality, safe, and equitable education.
“Revitalisation of educational units is focused on schools affected by disasters, 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) areas, as well as schools with severe damage. This is an effort to ensure that all students can learn in a safe and decent environment,” said Abdul Mu’ti during the inauguration of the programme at SMP Negeri 8 Pati, Pati Regency, Central Java, on Sunday (12/4/2026).
In 2025, the revitalisation programme was supported by a budget of Rp16.9 trillion and has reached more than 16,000 educational units across Indonesia.
The interventions carried out include the construction and rehabilitation of various facilities, from classrooms, libraries, laboratories, computer rooms, to sanitation facilities and other supporting infrastructure.
In Pati Regency, 90 educational units have benefited from the programme to improve school infrastructure quality. The government hopes that these improvements will create a safer, more comfortable, and conducive learning environment for students and educators.
