Jakarta — Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) has requested all ministries and government agencies to establish complaint posts for women and children during the 2026 Eid mudik and return migration period.

“For ministries and relevant agencies, ensure there are complaint posts in place. So if violence or harassment occurs, it can be reported directly. Previously, when we visited Pasar Senen Station, these have already been posted. If you see something that might be related to violence or harassment, there is already a complaint number available,” said Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum, Deputy for Coordinating Family Quality Improvement and Population at Kemenko PMK in Jakarta on Wednesday.

To enhance comfort for women and children during the 2026 Eid mudik period, Kemenko PMK has coordinated with all stakeholders to ensure that travel proceeds safely and smoothly.

Woro also stated that Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno has instructed that services during the mudik period and Eid al-Fitr holidays must prioritise a humanistic and inclusive approach, with special attention to vulnerable groups, particularly children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

“The state railway company (KAI) has already developed an application for ticket bookings where female passengers can immediately see whether male or female passengers have booked the adjacent seat. So it is already displayed in pink, we can choose that I want to sit next to a woman, next to a woman, but if a man books, it does not show,” she explained.

To ensure safety for women and children during the mudik period, Kemenko PMK has also requested local governments to guarantee comfort at rest areas, including the availability of nursing rooms and adequate toilet facilities.

Woro also reminded the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) to issue a circular ensuring that mudik travel must be conducted safely.

“So that, for example, when riding two-wheeled vehicles, it must ensure safety in using helmets and so on. Make sure there are not 4-5 people on one motorcycle,” she said.
