Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized four key factors for the success of the 2026 Eid transportation, to ensure the smooth and safe travel of people during this period.

The Minister stated that these four factors include safety and security, attention to detail, synergy and collaboration, and vigilance against uncertainties and potential disruptions in the field.

“With this, we hope that the implementation of this year’s Eid transportation will run well,” said the Minister in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He said that the Ministry of Transportation had held a Coordination Meeting for the Preparation of the Implementation of the 2026 Eid Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation’s Main Office, Jakarta.

The Minister emphasized that the aspect of safety and security is the main priority that must be realized through anticipatory steps and mitigation to minimize the risk of accidents and security disturbances.

Furthermore, the Minister also emphasized the importance of paying attention to detail in every stage of preparation.

Although it is an annual tradition in overseeing the implementation of Eid transportation, he hopes that small things must also be a concern and not underestimate small things.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of solid synergy and collaboration between stakeholders. According to him, strong coordination is the key to the smooth implementation of Eid transportation.

“Synergy and collaboration as I witnessed tonight and, thank God, with solid coordination and strong synergy between all stakeholders,” said the Minister.

He admitted that since early February 2026, the Ministry of Transportation had carried out a series of coordinations and synergies with various ministries, agencies, local governments, and related stakeholders.

Dudy has coordinated with a number of ministries/agencies including the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Digital Economy and Creative Economy Agency, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as the TNI and Polri.

Coordination was also carried out with a number of local governments including the Province of DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, West Java, Banten, Lampung, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

This coordination resulted in a number of policies including the provision of transportation fare stimulus discounts, the implementation of flexible working arrangements (FWA), the arrangement of goods transportation operations, the use of mosques as rest areas.

In addition, strengthening security and anticipating vulnerable areas in the area such as level crossings, street markets, and tourist locations.

The last factor emphasized is vigilance against uncertainties and potential disruptions in the field.

“Lastly, always expect uncertainty and irregularities. Extreme weather, natural disasters that can occur at any time, have the potential to cause disruptions to transportation,” he said.

Dudy hopes that these four factors can be consistently implemented by all parties.

“Our common hope is that if these four important factors are carefully considered, it is not impossible that our common goal, namely zero accidents and zero fatalities, can be realized,” he said.

Furthermore, the Minister provided direction and messages during the implementation of the 2026 Eid transportation, it is necessary to anticipate locations of congestion that occur on arterial roads such as street markets.

At least, the locations that need to be anticipated are in four locations in Banten, 25 locations in West Java, 12 locations in Central Java, six locations in Yogyakarta, and nine locations in East Java. As well as other areas that have the potential to experience congestion due to street markets.

The anticipation of congestion can be done by strengthening coordination and anticipating street market locations, as well as controlling and regulating obstacles on national roads such as merchant stalls and traditional transportation vehicles such as becaks and delmans.

Furthermore, according to the Minister, other things that need to be anticipated are the increase in traffic in tourist areas. It is estimated that there will be a significant increase in Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java.

“This movement usually occurs after the first day of Eid. An integrated traffic management system needs to be prepared to anticipate the surge in visitors from and to tourist locations,” said the Minister.
