Jakarta — Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said that a number of transport hubs are expected to experience congestion during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah / 2026 CE, as people undertake mudik travel.

Regarding transport hubs, including stations, airports, terminals, ports, and ferry crossings, several hubs are showing particularly high figures.

For rail transport, the stations with the largest passenger movement are expected to be Pasar Senen, Gambir, Bekasi, Cikarang, and Bandung during the Lebaran transport period.

The main railway destinations are expected to be several cities in Java such as Yogyakarta, Lempuyangan, Solo Balapan, Kutoarjo, and Purwokerto.

As for air travel, the most popular destinations are Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Juanda in Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin in Makassar, Yogyakarta International Airport, and Kualanamu in North Sumatra.

For road transport via bus terminals, passenger movements are expected to be dominated from Pulo Gebang Terminal, Kampung Rambutan, Bekasi, Purabaya in Sidoarjo, and Kalideres Terminal in Jakarta.

Intercity bus passengers’ main destinations are expected to be Tirtonadi Terminal in Solo, Wonogiri, Purabaya in Sidoarjo, Leuwi Panjang in Bandung, and Tasikmalaya in West Java.

The busiest ports are expected to be Tanjung Perak in Surabaya, Makassar Soekarno-Hatta, Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, Bau-Bau in Southeast Sulawesi, and Yos Sudarso Port in Ambon.

Additionally, the ferry crossings with the largest movements are anticipated on the Merak-Bakauheni, Lembar-Padang Bai, and Kupang routes, with major destinations Bakauheni, Merak, Lembar, Padang Bai, and Ketapang.

Nevertheless, Dudy did not detail passenger projections for each transport mode, even though the government has mapped potential congestion at various transport hubs during the Eid al-Fitr period.

The peak mudik flow is expected on 16 March and 18 March, after he proposed a Work From Anywhere policy to help ease congestion, a policy that has been approved by President Prabowo Subianto.

For the return flow after Eid, the government proposes applying WFA on 25, 26, and 27 March after the Idul Fitri holidays end.

“We conducted several simulations and, in the end, we concluded that we need to propose a Work From Anywhere policy, or, as the Kemenpan RB terms it, a flexible working arrangement (this policy has been approved),” the Transport Minister said.
