Minister of Transport Discovers Trucks Violating 2026 Eid Travel Restrictions
Indonesia’s Minister of Transport, Dudy Purwagandhi, has pledged not to tolerate cargo transport operations that violate the joint ministerial decree (SKB) imposing restrictions during the 2026 Eid holiday period. During monitoring of ferry services and holiday travel flows at Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) Port in Serang, Banten, on Sunday, 15 March 2026, Dudy discovered numerous trucks carrying non-essential goods in violation of operational restrictions.
“The SKB clearly sets out what is and is not permitted. We are concerned about several logistics companies that are not complying with the SKB provisions in force,” said Minister Dudy, as quoted by Antara on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Dudy emphasised that such violations would not be tolerated if they disrupt holiday travel flows. Coordination with police continues to ensure strict enforcement measures in the field against fleets failing to observe regulations. “We will leave enforcement measures to the police in the field. But rest assured we will address this properly,” he stated.
Field personnel are now directing trucks that violate the restrictions to designated parking areas to prevent obstruction of main routes. This measure has been implemented to give priority to holiday travellers and essential goods logistics transport.
Despite the violations detected, the Transport Minister assured that no severe congestion has occurred at BBJ port. Current vehicle queues remain within normal limits and represent only the waiting process for scheduled ferry departures.
“Ferry operations are running well. Vehicles are waiting in queue to board the ferries, but everything remains within normal limits and there are no multi-day queues,” said Minister Dudy.
The BBJ port is currently operating 12 vessels focused on serving large logistics vehicles in categories VII, VIII, and IX to reduce congestion at other ferry points.
