Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday, 23 February 2026. Nasaruddin’s visit was to provide an explanation regarding his use of a private jet during an official trip to South Sulawesi on 15 February 2026.

The trip was made for the inauguration of the Balai Sarkiah Building in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi. The Minister’s attendance at the anti-corruption commission was described as a demonstration of transparency and commitment to gratification prevention. “We have come again to explain my travel for duties in South Sulawesi, using a private aircraft. I came here to convey this matter,” Nasaruddin said at the KPK offices in Jakarta.

The Minister of Religious Affairs stated that this was not his first time coordinating with the anti-corruption body. He said he had previously handed over gifts suspected of being linked to the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage and had consulted with the KPK on several occasions.

He expressed gratitude that the meeting went smoothly and appreciated the KPK for providing the opportunity for clarification. Nasaruddin said he wished to set an example through this reporting initiative for officials within the Ministry of Religious Affairs and other state administrators.

“Hopefully this can serve as a lesson for other colleagues. Let us try to support all the initiatives that have been promoted, especially by the KPK. Let us be good administrators,” he said. He also urged that any potentially dubious or questionable receipts be reported immediately. “Report things as they are. Do not be afraid. Hopefully this serves as a good example for anyone serving as a state administrator,” he said.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo praised the early reporting of suspected gratification as a positive example for state administrators. According to Budi, early reporting forms part of the mitigation and prevention of conflicts of interest that may arise in the future. “We carry out preventive measures, particularly those related to conflicts of interest that may emerge going forward,” he said.
