Minister of Public Works states that the MLFF toll transaction system will be re-tested
Central Java (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed that the touchless, non-stop, cashless toll transaction system (MLFF) will be re-tested. “As far as I know, from the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Body (BPJT), he informed that the previous first trial in Bali did not yet have a conclusion on whether the trial was successful or not. Then we finally agreed to re-test it,” Dody said at the Rest Area KM379 A on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road, Central Java, on Saturday (28/3). However, he continued, because MLFF has become a concern for many parties, the Ministry of PU is involving many parties such as the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Attorney General’s Office, the police, and various other relevant stakeholders. “If I’m not mistaken, it’s planned within the next two months, but there are some technical criteria that must be met by PT RITS, the Head of BPJT knows. Well, that must be fulfilled first before we set the time when we can conduct the trial. And where? Will it be tried in Bali again or we look for other points. But the easiest is actually in Bali because the traffic there is not too large, too dense, but that’s what we want,” he said. The Toll Road Regulatory Body (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) emphasised that the touchless, non-stop, cashless toll transaction system (MLFF) must be implemented carefully, and it is still planned to require further trials on busy toll roads. Head of BPJT of the Ministry of PU, Wilan Oktavian, explained that every stage of MLFF implementation needs to be prepared thoroughly. Currently, a report is still needed before determining the location and time for the further trial. He also reminded that the trial requires the involvement of various stakeholders so it cannot be done hastily. In addition, Sony stated that coordination with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) is also necessary. He mentioned that Korlantas also needs a firm legal umbrella because its authority is limited to enforcing traffic violation laws.
