Jakarta—Indonesia’s Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, has commented on the resignations of two Directors General (Dirjen) within the Public Works Ministry: Dirjen of Spatial Planning Dewi Chomistriana and Dirjen of Water Resources (SDA) Dwi Purwantoro.

Hanggodo stated that the departures of these senior officials stemmed from findings by the State Audit Board (BPK) regarding state losses reaching trillions of rupiah. These audit findings prompted an internal evaluation that ultimately led to the officials’ resignations.

“So the information about the two dirjens’ resignations is indeed correct, and it does stem from BPK’s findings. BPK sent me two letters—I am confident in January 2025 and August 2025,” Hanggodo said, as reported by Antara on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

He explained that the BPK had formally sent him two letters in January 2025 and August 2025. In the first letter, the BPK identified potential state financial losses of approximately Rp 3 trillion attributable to the two Public Works Ministry directors.

Hanggodo subsequently instructed his staff to follow up on these findings. However, the BPK audit results were not investigated further.

In August 2025, Hanggodo received a second letter from the BPK indicating that the potential loss had decreased by approximately Rp 1 trillion from the previous estimate of Rp 3 trillion. The BPK also requested the formation of an ad hoc assembly and the establishment of task force teams (satker) to accelerate the recovery of state losses from third parties.

Despite these requests, the Public Works Ministry failed to take serious action. Consequently, Hanggodo decided to assume direct control of the case involving the two directors general.

“That is why I then took control. We will establish an ad hoc assembly, we will form new teams within task force units so that the recovery of state losses can be faster and not disrupt the daily work of the task force units,” he explained.

Hanggodo also emphasised that this internal restructuring represented a direct mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen accountability and integrity within the ministry. He established a special evaluation team to ensure the improvement process proceeded effectively.

“That is why I then implemented much stricter measures. I formed my own team which I personally lead, and I formed that team myself,” Hanggodo stressed.
