The government is preparing a training programme for the 2026 National Vocational Training Programme (PVN) so that graduates possess skills that match the needs of the industrial world and are ready to enter the workforce.

Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli revealed that the training scheme will be focused according to the needs of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and National Strategic Projects (NSPs).

He conveyed this after holding a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and SEZ managers.

“So we want the vocational training we conduct, including internships later, to be more matched, closer to the needs of SEZs or NSPs,” said Yassierli at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Yassierli acknowledged that previously, there had been a mismatch between the training provided by vocational training centres and the needs in some SEZ areas. Therefore, adjustments to the training are hoped to be more targeted.

“So earlier we mapped out what we can do going forward, more concrete, more collaborative. We already mapped it out. So there are SEZs that say, ‘eh we need training directed here’, but the centres under the Ministry of Manpower are not fully ready, or too far from our needs,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the government currently has a quota of around 60,000 participants for the vocational training programme that has been allocated in the budget. The plan is for the internship programme to be spread across Indonesia, utilising 25 SEZs.

“So those we train vocationally can work directly, including when the internship is implemented, we also want the participants to gain real experience from industry,” he said.

“Because we also want this 2026 internship, when rolled out, to be evenly distributed across Indonesia. As distribution, there are a total of 25 SEZs, with various variations,” Yassierli emphasised.

In his official statement, Yassierli previously emphasised that the 2026 National Vocational Training Programme (PVN) is designed so that graduates have skills that match the needs of the industrial world and are ready to enter the workforce.

“This programme is designed to link and match with industry needs. Our focus is to improve skills so that graduates can be absorbed into the workforce,” said Yassierli when reviewing the implementation of PVN Batch I for 2026 at the Bandung Major Vocational Training and Productivity Centre (BBPVP), West Java, on Friday (19/4/2026).

He explained that this programme is implemented nationally and followed by 10,405 participants spread across 21 Vocational Training Centres (BLKs), 13 training units under the Directorate General of Vocational Training and Productivity Development, and 46 BLK Technical Implementation Units.
