JAKARTA - The Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, stated that the unification of national regulations represents the realisation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita through bureaucratic reform. He specifically referred to the seventh point of Astacita, which focuses on strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms. “One of its manifestations is how all ministries take concrete actions to simplify the rules that are overly regulated in this country,” Supratman said during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026). Therefore, he views the current moment as an opportunity for all ministries and agencies to consolidate regulations in order to create a simpler, more efficient, and responsive legal system to the needs of the people. The acceleration of cross-ministerial regulatory unification, he said, is part of the national legal reform. Thus, the deregulation efforts carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) serve as concrete evidence that simplification of regulations can be done effectively and have a broad impact. “From 191 rules to four rules. Kemenpora’s bold step in deregulation should serve as an example of regulatory unification across all ministries,” he stated. Therefore, Kemenpora’s success is seen as an important momentum to encourage other ministries to take similar steps. Supratman said that simplifying regulations will result in rules that are more efficient, concise, and easy to implement by stakeholders in youth and sports. He assessed that the deregulation approach through the omnibus law method applied by Kemenpora shows that bureaucratic reform does not have to be partial, but can be comprehensive and integrated. “We fully support cross-ministerial regulatory unification efforts, such as Kemenpora’s initiative which has successfully become a national deregulation model,” Supratman remarked. Through this step, he hopes that this success can become a national model in regulatory reform while accelerating the achievement of development targets and enhancing Indonesia’s competitiveness at the global level through a more modern and adaptive legal system.
