Minister of Housing and Settlements Hands Over 120 Permanent Homes to Disaster Victims in South Tapanuli
Medan (ANTARA) - Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP) Maruarar Sirait handed over 120 permanent homes (huntap) in the first phase to survivors of natural disasters in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.
“120 units are already ready to occupy,” said Maruarar in South Tapanuli Regency on Friday.
Maruarar, who handed them over together with the Task Force for Accelerating Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) for Sumatra, stated that South Tapanuli is one of the disaster-affected areas that quickly built permanent homes.
He mentioned that the groundbreaking for the permanent homes construction took place on 20 December 2025, conducted together with North Tapanuli Regency, Central Tapanuli Regency, and Sibolga City.
“The fact is that we jointly laid the first stone at four points, but South Tapanuli became the first regency in Indonesia to complete building homes quickly and on schedule,” he said.
“I must give appreciation to the Regent of South Tapanuli, Gus Irawan, for being the fastest and most intensive in constructing permanent homes,” he added.
Interior Minister Tito Karnavian explained that the acceleration of permanent home construction is determined by three main stages.
The initial stage, he said, depends on the local government’s ability to compile and submit detailed victim data based on names and addresses (by name by address) along with the level of damage.
Tito appreciated the steps taken by South Tapanuli Regent Gus Irawan, who was deemed swift in providing complete and rapid damage data, from light, moderate, to severe categories.
The completeness and speed of this data also accelerated the disbursement of financial assistance in the form of temporary housing funds (DTH) given at once for three months amounting to Rp1.8 million for the community during the displacement period.
In addition, affected residents also received various other aids, such as living guarantee assistance (Jadup) from the Ministry of Social Affairs of Rp15,000 per person per day, household furniture assistance of Rp3 million, and economic stimulus support of Rp5 million.
