Minister of Corrections Prepares Sanctions for Employees Involved in Narcotics Trafficking
Tangerang (ANTARA) - Minister of Law and Human Rights Agus Andrianto has once again reminded all employees under his ministry not to engage in criminal acts, including narcotics trafficking, as heavy sanctions are ready to be imposed.
“Do not destroy your own pot by committing wrong and illegal actions. You must protect this institution, and you already know the punishment if you are involved in narcotics trafficking,” said Minister Agus Andrianto during the Thanksgiving Ceremony for the 62nd Corrections Service Day at the Immigration and Corrections Polytechnic Campus in Tangerang on Monday.
Agus stated that currently, 365 employees in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights have been disciplined for proven violations while on duty, including involvement in drug trafficking from within prisons to extortion.
Minister Agus also instructed all prison and detention centre heads to make optimal efforts to ensure no narcotics trafficking occurs inside them.
In addition, prison and detention centre heads are asked to humanise humans inside prisons because the stigma has now changed, namely by carrying out guidance so that inmates have hope for life again after undergoing the punishment process.
Director General of Corrections Mashudi added that the 62nd Corrections Service Day becomes an important point in strengthening the more open, inclusive Corrections paradigm, and oriented towards values of usefulness for society.
“We realise that the implementation of Corrections duties still requires various improvements. Therefore, we are committed to continuously improving performance, strengthening integrity, and ensuring all programmes run effectively and provide real impact,” said Dirjenpas Mashudi.
