Kudus (ANTARA) - The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdul Mu’ti, in his Eid al-Fitr prayer sermon for 1447 Hijriah, urged Muslims to strive to obtain clean and halal wealth.

“After performing the Ramadan fasting worship, it is time to carry out comprehensive self-purification, both intellectually, spiritually, environmentally, and materially,” he said while serving as the preacher for the Eid al-Fitr Prayer 1447 Hijriah held at the Crystal Building of Muhammadiyah University Kudus, Kudus Regency, on Friday.

He introduced the concept of material purity, namely the effort to have clean and halal wealth. “The wealth we obtain must be halal and used in a halal manner as well,” he stated.

He reminded the congregation to not seek wealth through prohibited means, such as corruption or other invalid actions. In addition, the congregation was also urged to avoid extravagant and excessive lifestyles.

“During fasting, we are trained to restrain ourselves. Afterwards, we must be able to live simply, not extravagantly, and do the best for ourselves, society, the nation, and the environment,” he added.

Mu’ti explained the importance of intellectual purity by cleansing the mind from negative things and building a clear mindset. Meanwhile, spiritual purity is achieved by strengthening faith and drawing closer to God.

He emphasised environmental purity or concern for the environment, by maintaining cleanliness and avoiding actions that damage nature.

The Eid al-Fitr prayer, attended by thousands of Muhammadiyah residents, proceeded solemnly. The location was moved to the Crystal Building of UMKU after the initial plan at the Swalayan ADA courtyard was hindered by weather conditions that made the site wet.

Present on that occasion was the Vice Rector III of UMKU as well as the Deputy Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) Kudus, Rizka Himawan.

The Eid al-Fitr momentum, Mu’ti continued, is hoped to serve as a means to cleanse the heart and strengthen values of goodness in daily life, including maintaining unity and harmony in society.

He touched on the ongoing global conflicts and hoped that all conflicting parties could exercise restraint and stop the violence.

“We must maintain harmony and unity, because that is an important capital to build Indonesia into an advanced and dignified nation,” he said.
