JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Minister of Migrant Worker Protection (P2MI) Mukhtarudin Djuhari made light-hearted remarks about having two deputy ministers at the ministry under his leadership.

He made these comments whilst delivering remarks at the launch of the People’s Business Credit (KUR) scheme for Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement at the P2MI Ministry Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 April 2026.

Mukhtarudin initially greeted individual guests attending the event, including representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and labour distribution agencies.

“I am also accompanied by those present, thank you Madam Deputy Minister, Madam Christina Aryani. Thank you. I actually handed over KUR matters to her, I’m just doing the launching part,” he said.

“So the meetings, negotiations, and all that sort of thing goes through Madam Christina. That’s the advantage of being a minister with two deputy ministers. And both my deputy ministers are competent, so the minister’s head doesn’t get overwhelmed,” he added.

Mukhtarudin explained that the KUR Migrant Worker Placement scheme represents the government’s effort to strengthen access to financing for prospective migrant workers whilst also enhancing protection during the placement process abroad.

Through this scheme, prospective migrant workers can obtain financing of up to Rp 100 million at 6 per cent interest for various placement needs, including training, competency certification, work visa processing, travel tickets, and accommodation.

“As a manifestation of the state’s commitment to protecting prospective migrant workers from excessive financial burdens, the government is committed to providing easy access to safe and affordable financing,” he stated.

“Therefore, the state must ensure that every prospective migrant worker obtains access to information, fair financing, and protection from the early stages of the placement process,” he emphasised.
