Minister for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection expresses condolences over death of Bandung student in pupils' clash
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi has expressed deep condolences over the death of a student in a clash between pupils in Bandung, West Java.
“We convey our deepest condolences over this incident. Children should grow and interact in a safe and conducive environment,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to the minister, this tragic event serves as a reminder that child protection is a shared responsibility of families, schools, communities, and government.
The Women and Child Companion Service Team (SAPA 129) has coordinated with the Bandung City Technical Implementation Unit for Women and Child Protection (UPTD PPA) to obtain initial information and ensure appropriate support measures for the victim’s family.
“Further assistance will be provided once the family’s circumstances permit. The Bandung City UPTD PPA continues to coordinate with the Bandung Police Department’s Special Crime Unit to obtain updates on the case,” said the PPPA Minister.
The Coblong Police Precinct and Bandung Police Department continue to investigate the case, including allegations of assault against the victim.
Previously, FA (17), a Year 11 student, died on Cihampelas Road in Bandung, West Java, on Friday evening (13 March). The victim allegedly became involved in a clash with a group of pupils following a joint breaking of the fast gathering.
