The government has emphasised that the implementation of Work From Home (WFH) for Civil Servants (ASN) every Friday must remain oriented towards achieving organisational performance and public service quality. Minister for State Apparatus Utilisation and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Rini Widyantini, has requested that agency leaders ensure work flexibility does not reduce employee productivity or hinder services to the public. “Ensuring that adjustments to official duties do not disrupt the smooth running of government operations and the quality of public services,” said Rini Widyantini, quoted from the Circular Letter, Wednesday (1/4/2026). Under the regulation, ASN will work from the office for four days, Monday to Thursday, and from home every Friday. Agency leaders are asked to monitor and supervise the achievement of individual and work unit performance targets. Optimisation of information systems is also key to ensuring attendance, reporting, and work outputs remain measurable and accountable. The government has also reminded that essential public services must continue without interruption, including health services, population affairs, security, and emergency services. In addition to maintaining performance, the WFH policy is aimed at promoting energy efficiency and accelerating digital transformation in the bureaucracy, including through the optimisation of online meetings and integrated use of information technology. Periodic evaluations will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of the policy, both in terms of organisational performance achievements, energy efficiency, and public service quality over the next four months.
