The Minister for State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPAN-RB), Rini Widyantini, has expressed high appreciation for the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026. According to her, the management of this year’s homecoming and return flows is not merely a matter of traffic logistics, but a true reflection of adaptive and responsive public service transformation.

“Alhamdulillah, the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and Operation Ketupat 2026 this year proceeded relatively smoothly, safely, and under control, despite a very significant surge in public mobility,” said Rini Widyantini to detikcom on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Rini assessed that the cross-ministerial and inter-agency synergy in overseeing the significant surge in public mobility this year was highly effective. This is evidenced by data showing a decline in accident rates and the absence of notable incidents in the field.

“In particular, I wish to commend the Polri for the highly coordinated organisation of Operation Ketupat. Traffic engineering such as one-way systems, contraflow, and real-time situation-based adjustments proved effective in alleviating congestion,” explained Rini.

“The presence of officers at crucial points also enhanced public safety. Traffic engineering is no longer just technical, but has become part of adaptive and responsive public service,” she added.

From the perspective of the Ministry of PAN-RB, Rini highlighted three main points of this year’s success. First, the tangible presence of the state felt directly by the public through swift and humane services along the homecoming routes.

“From the Ministry of PAN-RB’s perspective, there are three things I would like to convey. First, the state is present in a real way. Most importantly, it is not just about smooth traffic, but how the public experiences public services that are present, swift, and humane along the homecoming routes,” she said.

Second, there is solid integration of services between Polri, the Ministry of Transportation, local governments, the health sector, and state-owned enterprises. According to her, homecoming services have now shifted from sectoral to an integrated service ecosystem.

“Third, a human-centred public service approach has been well implemented. Officers actively engage and assist at rest areas, and demonstrate swift responses to emergencies. This reflects an orientation towards public experience,” she explained.

The Minister for PAN-RB specifically praised the use of technology and traffic flow management applied by the National Traffic Corps of Polri. For her, schemes such as one-way, contraflow, and real-time situation-based adjustments represent modern public service in action.

“Traffic engineering is no longer just technical, but has become part of adaptive public service,” added Rini.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of PAN-RB is committed to continuing to promote the strengthening of national homecoming data integration based on real-time systems. Rini emphasised the importance of digitalising services so that information on routes, rest area facilities, and health services can be accessed by the public in a single integrated platform.

“The Ministry of PAN-RB will continue to promote the strengthening of real-time national homecoming data integration, more massive safety campaigns given that fatigue remains a dominant factor, and the digitalisation of homecoming services so that route information, rest area services, and health services become increasingly integrated in a single platform that is easily accessible to the public,” explained Rini.

“The success of Operation Ketupat going forward will not only be measured by the smoothness of homecoming flows, but by how far the state can deliver integrated, predictive public services oriented towards public safety and comfort,” she continued.

Polri officially concluded Operation Ketupat 2026 on Wednesday (25/3), followed by Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) until 29 March in accordance with directives from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Polri recorded success in suppressing road accident and fatality rates during this year’s humanitarian operation.

The Head of the National Traffic Corps of Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, previously stated that based on data from the Polri Traffic Corps’ IRSMS application, the number of fatalities (MD) during this year’s homecoming and return period experienced a significant decline of 104 people, or 30.41%. The total number of national traffic accidents also showed a 5.31% decrease, or 153 fewer incidents compared to last year.

Additionally, Operation Ketupat this year recorded zero major accidents.

Polri’s success in suppressing fatality rates is also the result of measured traffic engineering implementation, such as the National One Way to Precision Segment One Way. Furthermore, the use of modern technology such as Precision ETLE Patrol, Mobile Command Centre, AI, and Body Cam supported swift decision-making in the field.

Inter-stakeholder synergy and humane services became the main keys to the success of Operation Ketupat 2026 in line with the spirit of ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo expressed thanks to all field officers who worked hard to secure the 2026 homecoming and return flows. He also appreciated the synergy and collaboration of all stakeholders in realising a safe and comfortable homecoming in accordance with the 2026 homecoming tagline ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’.
