Mining Summit draws 200 firms
JAKARTA (JP): About 200 mining technology producers from across the world, including Australia, Canada, Poland and the United States, will take part in the mining fair and conference scheduled to take place from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5 at the Jakarta International Exhibition Center in Kemayoran, Jakarta.
The fair and conference's committee also said on Monday that about 5,000 professionals from the mining industry are expected to visit this year's Indonesian Mining Investment Summit, which is billed as the largest such summit ever staged in the region.
The fair and conference will be held amid growing concern in several countries over riots that have rocked the country over the past several weeks.
"International exhibitors and conference speakers are ignoring embassy and media warnings (about security in Indonesia) and coming to Mining Indonesia and the Indonesian Mining Investment Summit to express their confidence in the future of Indonesia," chairman of the fair's international organizing committee Geoffrey Gold said.
The fair and conference will be organized by PT Pamerindo Abadi and hosted by the Indonesian Mining Association and the Association of Indonesian Mining Professionals.
Keynote speeches at the event will be delivered by Coordinating Minister for Economy, Finance and Industry Ginandjar Kartasasmita and Minister of Mines and Energy Kuntoro Mangkusubroto. (jsk)
