Mining Industry Seeks Clarity on Strategic Natural Resources Export Governance Transition
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Mining Association (API-IMA) has stressed the need for clarity in the transition process of strategic natural resources (SDA) export governance policies.
This follows the establishment of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) specifically for strategic SDA exports.
API-IMA Executive Director Sari Esayanti said clearer guidelines are required to ensure business negotiations proceed smoothly and market stability is maintained.
“Clarity is needed so that critical business negotiations can continue for company sustainability and market stability,” Esayanti stated, quoted on Tuesday (26 May 2026).
The association also highlighted the importance of respecting existing long-term contracts, including short-term sales agreements.
API-IMA emphasised that industry players heavily rely on clear and consistent contracts to sustain businesses and protect investments made.
It is worth noting that in the initial phase, commodities managed by PT DSI will include crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and iron alloys (ferrous alloy).
As a specialised export BUMN, PT DSI will operate in two phases. First, the company will act as an intermediary between domestic exporters and foreign buyers.
The single-window export system will commence on 1 June 2026 as the initial phase, fully implemented by 1 January 2027.
