The national mining industry continues to face transformation challenges amid drives for operational efficiency, digitalisation, mineral downstreaming, and demands for sustainable mining practices. This has prompted industry players to strengthen cross-sector collaboration to seek technological solutions and more adaptive business strategies.

That was reflected in the Indonesia Miner 2026 event held from 5–7 May 2026. The mining forum brought together more than 2,100 delegates from over 20 countries through a series of conferences, exhibitions and technical discussion programmes.

In its sixth edition, Indonesia Miner introduced a newer, more interactive format, involving more than 60 speakers and 46 exhibitors from various sectors of the mining industry, from mining companies, technology providers to investors and regulators. The forum united industry players across the entire value chain, from exploration, operations, processing, to the downstream processing of minerals.

The conference was divided into three main focus areas: Gold & Copper and Other Minerals, Critical Metals, and Coal & Energy. The themes covered industry challenges, opportunities for developing strategic minerals, and the direction of transformation for the energy and mining sectors.

In addition to the conference, the exhibition area served as a hub for interaction among industry players, showcasing technology and the latest operational solutions for the mining sector. Forty-six exhibitors presented a range of innovations and new approaches in mining operations, digitalisation, data management, energy efficiency, and workplace safety.

The organisers of Indonesia Miner 2026 adopted a more open and interactive area concept to foster collaboration and more intensive idea exchange among participants. The new approach is seen as making interactions between attendees more fluid and opening up broader business discussion opportunities compared with conventional exhibition formats.

Various technical sessions were also held through the Miners Talk and Workshop programmes, discussing the application of technology, data utilisation, and strengthening safety and human resources in the mining sector.

One Miners Talk session featured discussions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern mining operations through the session ‘From Data to Decisions: AI Value in Modern Mining’. The forum also included discussions on integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) standards into the mining industry through a session initiated by Women in Mining and Energy (WiME) Indonesia.

Several technology firms and mining solutions providers used the forum to showcase the latest innovations. For example, Metso introduced a modular approach for developing crushing and screening facilities to accelerate project execution in mining.

“Indonesia Miner is the right platform for direct discussions with industry players on practical solutions,” said Jason Perrella, Technology Manager–Mining Crushers at Metso, in an official statement.

Meanwhile, Coolon introduced Brilliant Connected Lights (BCL) and a digital twin that enable real-time monitoring of mining operations and faster, more accurate decision-making. PT Hexindo Adiperkasa Tbk, through a session on fatigue risk management, highlighted the importance of managing worker fatigue as part of strategies to improve safety and productivity in mining operations.

“The topic is becoming increasingly important as operational complexity rises. Indonesia Miner provides an excellent space to share these approaches and engage directly with industry players,” said Henra Sastrawan, Country Sales Manager at Wenco International Mining Systems, representing PT Hexindo Adiperkasa Tbk.

Indonesia Miner 2026 was supported by 18 sponsors and more than 15 associations and partner companies. The organisers regard the forum as an important platform to strengthen connectivity of the national and global mining industry amid a shift towards technology, efficiency, and sustainability.

Organisers also note that the interactions built over the three days of the event demonstrate the industry’s need for a collaborative space capable of bringing together technology, investment, and sustainability strategies within a more integrated mining ecosystem.

Green transformation in the mining industry is beginning to attract attention amid rising demands for energy efficiency and global carbon emission reductions.

Indonesia is a strategic market with complex operational needs.

According to various studies, the industrial sector, including mineral processing and smelting, is one of the main contributors to national emissions.

PT Global Energitama’s strength lies in the solidity of its team, a work culture that upholds safety and health at work (K3) values.

The Sharing Knowledge ITS event brought together NHM and PTPJ experts who discussed geophysical survey techniques, geoscience data management, and modern gold exploration practices.

PT Puncakbaru Jayatama (PTPJ) stood out at Minerba Convex 2025 with an interactive stand, showcasing mineral exploration innovations and the journey of gold from discovery to production.
