MINAHASA, North Sulawesi: Police authorities in Minahasa,
North Sulawesi have confiscated four cars without proper legal
documents and are investigating the case.
The cars were allegedly brought from Jakarta.
Local police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Eldy Azwar said on Tuesday
that his staff were still tracking down two other cars.
Highway police chief Adj. Comr. Hendra Gunawan said that the
cars were transported to Minahasa through the Makassar seaport in
South Sulawesi.
He said that the two other cars were believed to have been
shipped to Buolemo regency in newly established Gorontalo
province.
Hendra said his office would cooperate with fellow police in
Makassar and Gorontalo in recovering the cars. -- Antara
Students get Rp 216 million donation
PADANG: About 3,000 students from poor families in West
Sumatra have received a financial donation of Rp 216 million from
the National Child Sponsorship Movement (GNOTA).
Secretary of GNOTA in the province, Dedi Syahputra said on
Tuesday that the donation was in conjunction with the anniversary
of respective regencies where the students were attending school.
It is hoped that the donation would help the students finish
their education.
Dedi said the donation was handed directly to the schools to
avoid being misused by the student's parents.
He added that each student would receive Rp 60,000 per year,
which Rp 45,000 would be spent on books, while the remaining Rp
15,000 would be for tuition. - Antara
