Military Personnel Arrested in Maluku Following Alleged Cattle Theft
Military Police (POM) have arrested a member of Yonif 735/Nawasena battalion, identified as MK, following allegations of involvement in a cattle theft case in Buru District, Maluku. MK is currently undergoing questioning.
“The legal proceedings regarding the alleged cattle theft involving military personnel are ongoing. All facts and evidence remain under examination,” said Yonif 735/Nawasena Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hendi Hendra Cahyana, in a statement.
The cattle theft occurred in a village in Waeapo District, Buru, on Friday, 27 February. Hendi emphasised that the military would not protect any personnel found guilty of livestock theft.
“The legal process has commenced and the institution will not provide protection if the individual is proven guilty,” he stated.
Hendi did not provide further details regarding the cattle theft involving MK. However, he confirmed that the soldier in question has been detained for further investigation.
“The military personnel allegedly involved have currently been secured at Subdenpom XV/2-3 Namlea to undergo further legal proceedings. The investigation will be conducted professionally, objectively, and transparently,” he added.
