Military Commander Inaugurates Micro-Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lanny Jaya, Papua
Wamena — Brigadier General Tagor Rio Pasaribu, Commander of the 172nd Praja Wira Yakthi Military Resort, inaugurated a micro-hydroelectric power plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 3,000 watts and voltage of 220 volts, constructed by the Territorial Task Force of the 511th Infantry Battalion in Koka Village, Malagaineri District, Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Highlands, to support the utilisation of renewable energy.
Speaking in Wamena on Tuesday, Brigadier General Tagor Rio Pasaribu stated that the initiative and efforts undertaken by the 511th Infantry Battalion’s Territorial Task Force represented the Indonesian Army’s concern and affection for the people of Papua, particularly in Lanny Jaya Regency, regarding renewable energy utilisation.
“I would like to thank the Commander of the 511th Infantry Battalion Task Force and all the Black Rhino soldiers. This PLTMH is very beneficial for the community of Koka Village, Malagaineri District, especially for children who can now study at night,” he said.
He hoped that the PLTMH facility would be properly maintained and preserved by the community of Koka Village, Malagaineri District, Lanny Jaya Regency, so it could be used for a long time.
“To all TNI personnel serving in the Land of Papua, particularly in the 172nd Military Resort area, I hope you will continue to develop Papua with sincere hearts and always show love to the surrounding communities,” he added.
The Task Force Commander said they were grateful to have completed the PLTMH construction for Koka Village community. “Our hope is that this facility will help the community carry out daily activities, especially for children who need lighting to study at night,” he stated.
He thanked the local government and community, who had assisted in completing the PLTMH construction in approximately two months.
Deputy Regent of Lanny Jaya Fredi G Tabuni said the support for PLTMH development was extraordinary, undertaken by the Border Task Force of the 511th Infantry Battalion in helping the local government address electricity issues.
“As the local government, we thank the Border Task Force of the 511th Infantry Battalion, which has helped build a power plant by utilising the natural surroundings in Koka Village,” he said.
