Metro Police Uncover Warehouse with Thousands of Stolen Motorcycles in South Jakarta
Jakarta Metro Police have uncovered a case of motorcycle handling suspected to be proceeds of crime. The operation took place at a large warehouse located on Jalan Kemandoran VIII, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
Observations by detikcom on Monday (11/5/2026) showed yellow police tape stretched across the scene. Thousands of motorcycles were visible spread out at the location.
Thousands of motorcycles of various brands and colours were seen at the site. Some appeared brand new, still wrapped in plastic, while others looked worn and dusty.
Motorcycle spare parts were also piled up at several points in the warehouse. Heavy equipment was visible at the location. The case was uncovered by the Subdirectorate of Land and Motor Vehicles, Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metro Police.
“Jakarta Metro Police, through the Subdirectorate of Land and Motor Vehicles of the Criminal Investigation Directorate, has uncovered a major case involving suspected criminal acts of handling motor vehicles. This includes the purchase, storage, and possession of motor vehicles strongly suspected to be proceeds of crime,” said the Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters at the scene on Monday (11/5).
Police secured 1,494 vehicles. The motorcycles are suspected to be sold abroad.
“Investigators secured 1,494 motorcycle units,” he stated.
The Director of Criminal Investigation of Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Iman Imannudin, explained that the thousands of motorcycles spread out at the location are strongly suspected to be proceeds of crime. Currently, the police are conducting further investigations.
“They are suspected to originate from criminal acts. The suspects could not show valid proof of ownership,” he added.
