Metro Police Stop Illegal Street Racing in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Seize Machete
The Metro Jaya Police Department has halted illegal street racing activities in the Ciputat area of South Tangerang. Police also confiscated a machete from several youths engaged in illegal street racing.
The halting of illegal street racing activities was carried out by the Samapta Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police during Precision Pioneer Patrols on Friday (27 February) at 00.30 WIB. These routine patrols are conducted to take action against activities considered to disturb public order and security (Kamtibmas).
“During the patrol, the team took action against activities with the potential to disrupt public order on Jalan Nangka, Ciputat, South Tangerang,” said Deputy Commander of the Samapta Directorate Brigadier General Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo to reporters on Friday (27 February 2026).
Wahyu explained that the operation began with a briefing at the Samapta Directorate Field, followed by a show of force and strong point operations at several locations to strengthen police presence and prevent potential public order disturbances. The patrol also involved K-9 unit personnel and female officers.
He explained that during the patrol at 02.07 WIB, the team found a group of youths suspected of attempting to conduct illegal street racing and who had briefly closed road access on Jalan Nangka, Ciputat. Upon observing this, officers immediately conducted an inspection.
“Officers then conducted an inspection and secured 13 youths to be brought to Ciputat Timur Police Station for further questioning and investigation,” said Wahyu.
He stated that from this operation, officers secured one machete, several mobile phones. The patrol team also secured several motorcycles suspected to be involved in the activity.
“We conduct Precision Pioneer Patrols to prevent public order and security disturbances, including illegal racing and potential gang conflicts. Every finding in the field is acted upon according to procedure,” said Wahyu.
“Metro Jaya Police urge the public to immediately report any potential public order and security disturbances through the 110 Call Centre,” he added.
