Metro Police Seize Attack Rundown from Group Suspected of Planning Riots During May Day
We found a document outlining plans to carry out riots. They had prepared their comrades here, clearly depicted, as can be seen on the screen, in the rundown,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (1/5/2026).
“It is clearly depicted that they had prepared a rundown of the event. So, hour by hour, they had planned when to carry out the attack or assault, as it’s termed here,” he added.
Iman explained that the document shows the flow of arrival and evacuation routes for the parties suspected of planning the riots. Everything had been prepared by the alleged perpetrators.
“This has already been prepared by them. So, where they come from, what the incident will be like, and where they must return to. They have determined the gathering points,” he stated.
Police also secured communication devices used by the alleged perpetrators for the riot attempt. Officers also seized a sum of money, which is still under investigation to determine its source.
“This is a sum of money that we successfully secured from one of the field coordinators, based on information from the individual that the money was to be used or given to those attending together with their group,” he said.
In conversations among the detained individuals, Iman explained that the alleged perpetrators planned to attack officers securing the mass action. They also used social media for provocation efforts.
“In their discussions among themselves, several facts emerged, including that they planned to pit labour union elements against each other by infiltrating during the ongoing activities,” he stated.
A total of 101 people were detained for allegedly planning riots during the 2026 May Day action today in Jakarta. Police secured items such as Molotov cocktails and sharp weapons.
The detained individuals are aged between 20 and 30 years. Police emphasise that the 101 people will be released after the examination is complete.
