Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police have revealed the reasons behind the seemingly prolonged handling of the case involving allegations of a fake diploma against Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Head of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, stated that they must maintain professionalism and accommodate every legal event that occurs during the investigation process.

“Thus, the investigation process carried out by the investigators of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police can be accounted for scientifically,” Iman explained during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (17/4/2026).

“As of today, we investigators have not encountered any obstacles in the investigation process,” he added.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, stated that the criminal investigation detectives have not faced obstacles but respect public spaces.

“There is the principle of equality before the law. Everyone has equal status before the law. There are requests from the suspects to present mitigating witnesses and expert witnesses,” Budi explained.

Additionally, requests have been made for testing at several laboratories.

However, it has been clarified that the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Army Military Police Centre (Puspomad) are not parties with expertise in that field, so they do not have the requested laboratories for testing.

The report was filed by a group of farmers under the Free Indonesia Farmers Movement to Metro Jaya Police on Friday (17/4/2026).

Metro Jaya Police named eight people as suspects in the case of allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma after a lengthy investigation.

“Metro Jaya Police has named 8 suspects in the case of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Mr. Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (7/11/2025).

In general, the eight suspects are charged under Article 27A and Article 28 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), as well as Article 310 and/or 311 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years.

The suspects are then divided into two clusters according to their actions.

Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadillah, Rustam Effendi, and Damai Hari Lubis are placed in this cluster.

Meanwhile, the second cluster consists of Roy Suryo, Rismon Sianipar, and Tifauzia Tyassuma. They are charged under Article 32 paragraph (1) and Article 35 of the ITE Law regarding deleting or hiding, as well as manipulating electronic documents.

As the case progresses, the suspect statuses of Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis were revoked after the Termination of Investigation Order (SP3) was issued. Both resolved their cases through restorative justice.

Then, Rismon Sianipar from the second cluster followed their steps. He admitted to having made a mistake in his research regarding Jokowi’s diploma.
