Metro Police Establish Police Studies Centre at Borobudur University
The Jakarta East Metro Police Resort and Borobudur University (Unbor) are strengthening synergy and collaboration through the establishment of the Police Studies Centre Post. This step implements the Cooperation Agreement between Metro Jaya Regional Police and Unbor to bolster scientific research in enhancing the quality of human resources (HR) in policing.
In a technical discussion on establishing the Police Studies Centre Post, Deputy Chief of Jakarta East Metro Police Resort AKBP Achmad Akbar held an audience at Borobudur University on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. He was accompanied by the Head of Community Guidance and Order Section and post apparatus.
From the university side, it was attended directly by rectorate officials including Vice Rector 3 for Student Affairs Dr Syaiful, MSi, Postgraduate Director Prof Fasial Santiago, SH, MM as the person in charge of the Police Studies Centre from Borobudur University, and other accompanying officials.
Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police Kombes Budi Hermanto stated that this activity is a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement that has been established between Metro Jaya Regional Police and Borobudur University regarding the Operation of the Police Studies Centre at Borobudur University.
“This collaboration is a strategic step in developing studies, innovation, and improving human resource quality in the policing field,” said Budi Hermanto in his statement on Friday (10/4/2026).
He added that this collaboration also strengthens the synergy between police and academia to create precise, modern, and humane security.
The audience activity was filled with discussions on technical aspects regarding cooperation points to be implemented, at least related to data exchange, scientific research, and community service activities in the East Jakarta Administrative City area.
In this meeting, it was also agreed to establish the Police Studies Centre Post within the Borobudur University campus, which will later be used as a joint secretariat.
“Knowledge is vast and police duties are also vast. So, if our steps and tasks are not equipped with scientific research, their implementation could go astray,” said Achmad Akbar.
The Deputy Chief hopes that the presence of the Police Studies Centre Post at Unbor can enrich knowledge while serving as a foundation for police in developing research-based programmes from academia.
“Thus, with this police studies forum, we hope there will be much knowledge sourced from Borobudur University research that we can use as a basis for working on better and more targeted programmes,” he added.
