The Metro Jakarta Police conducted dialogue patrols at Gambir Station in Central Jakarta to ensure the 2026 Eid holiday exodus is safe and orderly.

“The presence of officers conducting dialogue patrols aims to provide a sense of security for train passengers at Gambir Station, which is already experiencing a surge in passenger numbers (mudik flow),” said Head of Public Relations at Metro Jakarta Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to journalists on Saturday (14 March 2026).

The patrol was led by First Inspector Sutarman. Based on PT KAI data, passenger numbers at Gambir Station ahead of Eid have already increased significantly.

Passenger surges recorded 10,258 travellers on Thursday (12 March), rising to 15,567 on Friday (13 March), with preliminary figures showing 17,532 passengers on Saturday (14 March). Peak exodus traffic is predicted for Tuesday (17 March) with 17,271 passengers and Wednesday (18 March) reaching 27,607 passengers. To accommodate the mudik surge, Gambir Major Station has increased train services to 46 daily trips, implemented from Wednesday (11 March) through Tuesday (31 March).

Senior Commissioner Budi added that field personnel are present to facilitate smooth Eid travel operations. He emphasised that officers also provide assistance to travellers requiring support.

“Service personnel at Gambir Station’s police post work in collaboration with Major Station officers, the military, Scouts, and healthcare workers to ensure smooth and comfortable travel, including security whilst boarding trains, lost item services, police report services, special services for children and persons with disabilities, and other information services,” he explained.
