Jakarta’s Metropolitan Police Chief Irjen Asep Edi Suheri has launched the Forum Kemitraan Polri dan Masyarakat Sekolah (School-Community Police Partnership Forum, FKPMS) at 11 schools in Jakarta as an effort to strengthen the prevention of bullying, early detection, and resolution of problems in educational environments.

Asep stated that schools and madrasahs are places where the nation’s future generation develops and must be maintained to remain safe, orderly, comfortable, and conducive.

“The launch of the FKPMS is motivated by various challenges in educational environments, ranging from bullying, violence, harassment, gang fights, negative influences from social media, to deviant behaviour resulting from social pressure,” Asep said in a statement on Wednesday, 11 March.

Asep revealed that throughout 2025, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have handled approximately 2,706 cases of violence against women and children in the Jakarta area. Based on this data, Asep stated that child protection remains a serious challenge requiring integrated handling.

“The presence of FKPMS is a strategic step in strengthening partnerships between the police, schools, parents, and the community. This forum is presented as a platform for communication, coordination, and problem-solving quickly and appropriately, in order to create a safe, orderly, and conducive educational environment,” he said.

Asep explained that through FKPMS, communication among school elements, parents, the community, and police is strengthened so that every potential disturbance can be identified early, mapped properly, and handled quickly and appropriately.

Asep also emphasised the importance of the role of deputy school principals overseeing student affairs and student council chairpersons from senior high schools, vocational schools, and Islamic senior high schools across Central Jakarta in building a healthy school culture, disciplined and free from violence, bullying, and drug abuse.

“With the establishment of the FKPMS nucleus at 11 schools, we hope this partnership forum can continue to be developed in the Jakarta region and become a collaboration model that can be applied to other schools,” he said.

“The Jakarta Metropolitan Police will continue to support preventive measures whilst prioritising a humanistic and professional approach for the creation of a safe, orderly, and conducive educational environment,” he added.
