The Metro Jaya Police together with the Jaya Military Command are present to provide services to the protesting public,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in his statement on Monday (4/5/2026). Budi Hermanto stated that they deployed 3,545 combined personnel from Metro Jaya Police, Jaya Military Command, Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, and support from the Community Protection and Security Belt. The personnel were dispersed at several points, such as the DPR building, Monas, as well as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology building and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology building. Budi Hermanto emphasised that they prioritise a humane and persuasive approach in serving this mass action. Personnel were also prepared to manage traffic, guard objects, provide advisories, and anticipate potential public order and security disruptions. “We emphasise to all personnel to act persuasively and humanely. The presence of the National Police is to ensure that the public can express their aspirations safely, without disrupting public order,” he continued. To smooth traffic flow around the protest locations, the police implemented situational traffic engineering based on developments in the field. “We advise road users to pay attention to traffic conditions and adjust their journeys, especially around the Monas area, Horse Statue, Jalan Medan Merdeka, DPR/MPR RI, Gatot Subroto, as well as areas around the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology,” he explained. The public is urged to avoid protest locations and use alternative routes to prevent congestion. Furthermore, the police also urged the protest masses to express their opinions in an orderly and peaceful manner. He asked action participants not to carry dangerous objects and not to be easily provoked.
