The Narcotics Directorate of Metro Jaya Regional Police has shown strong commitment to eradicating the illicit circulation of narcotics in early 2026. Over a three-month period, the police successfully secured hundreds of kilograms of evidence from thousands of uncovered cases.
“Over the last three months, Metro Jaya Regional Police and its subordinate police resorts have uncovered perpetrators of drug trafficking and abuse in 1,833 cases,” stated Director of Narcotics Investigations at Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Ahmad David, during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4).
From these thousands of cases, police seized a total of 721.01 kg of drug evidence with a highly diverse breakdown. Ahmad David provided a detailed explanation of the illegal commodities successfully confiscated by officers in the field.
The details of the seized evidence include various types of narcotics, though specific breakdowns were elaborated in depth during the briefing.
Thousands of Suspects Secured
In addition to seizing physical evidence, the police also apprehended 2,485 suspects. Data indicates that drug trafficking targets various groups, including foreigners and minors.
“Of the total 2,485 people arrested, they consist of 2,283 males, 202 females, 14 foreigners, and seven minors,” David explained.
Based on the investigation results, the suspects have varying roles in the distribution chain of the illicit goods. The police recorded significant numbers in the categories of dealers and users.
“The roles of each include nine as producers, then 972 suspects as dealers, and 1,504 suspects as users or addicts or victims of the crime itself,” he concluded.
This mass arrest is expected to break the chain of narcotics circulation in the jurisdiction of Metro Jaya Regional Police to realise a drug-free Jakarta.
