Metro Jaya Police Inspect Basic Commodities at Rawamangun Market, Here Are the Results
The Industrial and Trade Subdivision (Indag) of the Metro Jaya Police Directorate of Special Crimes conducted a surprise inspection at a traditional market in Rawamangun, East Jakarta. The inspection was carried out to ensure prices and stocks of basic foodstuffs remained stable ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
The monitoring activity, led by the Section Head of the Industrial and Trade Subdivision, AKP Rheditya Alfa Hendy, took place on the morning of the inspection. Metro Jaya Police coordinated with the National Food Agency (Bapanas) to inspect several merchant stalls.
Several commodities were inspected, including rice, cooking oil, chillies and meat. Officers directly questioned traders regarding the availability of basic commodities, including current retail prices.
The Head of Metro Jaya Police Public Relations, Kombes Budi Hermanto, stated that this activity was conducted to anticipate potential price increases and hoarding risks ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026.
“We will not tolerate hoarding practices or price manipulation that harm the public. Distribution must remain smooth and prices must remain controlled ahead of Eid,” said Budi Hermanto on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
Budi Hermanto reported that the inspection results indicated basic commodity stocks were relatively secure. Premium rice was sold at 15,000 rupiah per kilogram, whilst SPHP rice was priced at 12,500 rupiah per kilogram.
Minyakita cooking oil was sold at 15,700 rupiah per litre in accordance with the regulated price, with availability of 4,800 litres in 1-litre containers and 1,200 litres in 2-litre containers. For other commodities, red bird’s eye chillies were 110,000 rupiah per kilogram, red curly chillies and large red chillies were 50,000 rupiah per kilogram, garlic was 50,000 rupiah per kilogram, and shallots were 65,000 rupiah per kilogram.
Meanwhile, broiler chicken was 40,000 rupiah per kilogram, beef front hind was 130,000 rupiah per kilogram and rear hind was 140,000 rupiah per kilogram, broiler chicken eggs were 32,000 rupiah per kilogram, and consumption sugar was 18,000 rupiah per kilogram. Several commodities such as chicken, eggs, chillies and onions remained recorded above reference purchase prices.
Kombes Budi Hermanto stated that oversight would continue on a periodic basis to ensure basic commodity availability remained secure and prices did not increase.
