Metro Jaya Police Halt Investigation into Rismon Sianipar in Jokowi Diploma Case by Issuing SP3
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Metro Jaya Police have halted the investigation into suspect Rismon Sianipar in the case of allegations of a fake diploma belonging to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Police have issued a Termination of Investigation Order (SP3) after Rismon Sianipar reached a settlement with Jokowi.
“The investigators have issued the termination of investigation order regarding Rismon Sianipar on 14 April 2026,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanudin, during a press conference on Friday (17/4/2026).
According to him, Rismon had met Jokowi at his residence in Solo on 1 April 2026. In that meeting, Jokowi had forgiven Rismon, who had accused his diploma of being fake.
Rismon then also met the other complainants at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. They have accepted Rismon Sianipar’s apology.
“At present, a peace agreement has been reached between the suspect and the complainants through restorative justice,” he said.
Rismon’s legal counsel, Jahmada Girsang, stated that documents related to the issuance of the Termination of Investigation Order (SP3) are already in their possession, and they are just awaiting the official police announcement.
“SP3 finalisation. It means it’s already final. Essentially, it’s already in my hands,” said Jahmada to reporters at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
Eight people were previously named as suspects. Metro Jaya Police had previously designated eight individuals as suspects in the case of allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma after a lengthy investigation process.
“Metro Jaya Police have designated eight people as suspects in the matter of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Mr Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, on Friday (7/11/2025).
The first cluster was also charged under Article 160 of the Criminal Code for incitement to commit violence against public authorities. Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadillah, Rustam Effendi, and Damai Hari Lubis were part of that cluster.
Meanwhile, the second cluster consisted of Roy Suryo, Rismon Sianipar, and Tifauzia Tyassuma. They were charged under Article 32 paragraph (1) and Article 35 of the ITE Law for allegedly deleting, concealing, and manipulating electronic documents.
