Metro Jakarta Police Secure 10 Major Mosques and 68 Tourist Sites for Eid al-Fitr
Jakarta — The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have prepared security measures across hundreds of locations in Jakarta and surrounding areas ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijra.
The security operations cover places of worship, tourist sites, economic centres, and vital infrastructure expected to attract large crowds during the Eid period.
Metro Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri stated that security efforts are focused on several mosques serving as community worship centres. In addition to places of worship, police will deploy personnel at various tourist attractions likely to be crowded during the Eid holiday.
“We are providing security at 68 locations spread throughout the region, with prominent sites including the National Monument, Hotel Indonesia roundabout, Ragunan Zoo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Old City, Ancol, Thousand Islands, Ocean Park BSD, Aviary Park Bintaro, BXC, Scientia Square Park, and various water parks in Bekasi and Depok,” he explained.
Security is also being arranged at 37 pilgrimage sites to anticipate potential surges in visitors that could cause traffic congestion during Eid al-Fitr.
Additionally, the Metro Jakarta Police will provide security at several community activity locations in the lead-up to and during Eid.
“We are also providing security at 13 locations, which are sites for takbiran gatherings, as well as 133 locations for Eid prayers and zakat distribution,” he stated.
Security arrangements also encompass 83 economic centres and 11 transport hubs, consisting of four bus terminals, four railway stations, two airports, and one seaport.
“We have also prepared security for 471 bank offices and 164 pawn shop offices. We have detailed all of this, and there are also 621 vital facilities including petrol station buildings, electricity substations, and Pertamina fuel depots,” he said.
In implementing Operation Ketupat this year, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have deployed a total of 6,812 combined personnel from various units. They comprise 5,092 police personnel, divided between 2,700 from the metropolitan police headquarters and 2,392 from district police stations; 416 military personnel from the Jaya Military Command and district military offices under operational control; and 1,088 personnel from local government agencies under operational control.
“Additionally, 216 community members have been involved,” he added.
