Meta invites parents to understand digital parenting in 'Smart Digital Parenting'
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The digital platform Meta continues the spirit of PP Tunas in protecting Indonesian children in the digital space by presenting a programme called Smart Digital Parenting aimed at providing literacy to hundreds of parents to understand proper digital parenting. The programme is realised through collaboration between Meta and the civil society organisation ECPAT Indonesia and will invite parents to gain knowledge and learn practical tools to accompany their children while online and to create safe and healthy digital habits. “We are proud and pleased to continue the partnership with ECPAT Indonesia by launching a national series of Smart Digital Parenting trainings to equip more families with practical guidance and healthy digital habits,” said Bernie Moestafa, Head of Public Policy for Meta in Indonesia, in Jakarta on Friday. The programme will be sustained by forming a parent community called Parent Champions, a community that will be assisted by ECPAT Indonesia to raise awareness among more parents about safe and healthy digital parenting. Not only engaging ECPAT Indonesia, Meta also involves governments in each region to support the digital literacy initiative for parents. Thus the programme becomes a tangible manifestation of cross-stakeholder collaboration in delivering digital protection that is friendly and safe for children. Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communications and Digital Alexander Sabar appreciated the programme as a continuation of Meta’s commitment as a digital platform to protect the future generation in the digital space. He hopes Meta can become a role model to be followed by other digital platforms to build collective digital literacy, especially for parents, so that they can accompany their children properly when navigating the digital space. “This kind of initiative is crucial because digital literacy is no longer just about the ability to use technology; it is about how we collectively can build a digital space that is safe and healthy, especially for our children,” said Alex.
