Jakarta — Meta’s Head of Public Policy, Berni Moestafa, said that the company is working to ensure its platform remains safe for all Indonesians. He made the remark after the Minister of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) RI, Meutya Hafid, along with her staff, conducted a sudden inspection at Meta’s Office, Senayan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday 4 March 2026.

‘Of course at Meta we are striving to ensure our platform remains safe for all Indonesians,’ he explained. ‘So that we can carry out improvements that are expected to make our platform safer for us all,’ he stressed.

Meutya Hafid revealed that many of Meta’s regulatory compliances in Indonesia have not yet been carried out. ‘We are doing this after various government efforts to communicate with Meta, both formally and persuasively, and eventually we were compelled to carry out a sidak (spot check). Because there are many compliance requirements that have not been implemented,’ he said after the sidak.

When asked how compliant the Meta platform is with Indonesian regulations, he did not hesitate to respond: ‘Below 30 percent.’

Meutya also highlighted Meta’s handling of disinformation and online scams. He stressed that Indonesia is a very large digital market with around 230 million internet users. Therefore, adequate oversight is required to keep the digital space safe and protect the public.
