Merpati adds domestic flights
JAKARTA (JP): State-owned air carrier Merpati Nusantara Airways announced on Tuesday it would operate flight services from Java and Kalimantan, Kalimantan and Sulawesi and within Kalimantan itself.
Merpati general manager for corporate affairs Imam Turidy said the routes would be opened to meet market demand and that operations would begin on Nov. 1.
He said Merpati would fly six times a week from Yogyakarta to Tarakan in East Kalimantan with a stopover in Surabaya in East Java and Balikpapan in East Kalimantan and three times a week from Surabaya to Pontianak in West Kalimantan via Semarang in Central Java and Pangkalan Bun in West Kalimantan.
Merpati will fly three times a week from Balikpapan to Ujung Pandang in South Sulawesi and from Balikpapan to Banjarmasin. (cst)
