The government will restrict truck vehicles during the Lebaran 2026 mudik (homecoming) period beginning 13 March 2026. Banten Police have assessed that starting today there will be congestion of trucks at Merak Toll ahead of the mudik restrictions.

“From now until 12 March, there will be an increase in the crossing of logistics vehicles,” said Maruli Hutapea, Head of Public Relations at Banten Police, on Tuesday (3 March 2026).

According to Maruli, restrictions will commence from 13 to 25 March 2026. The government will only permit trucks carrying fuel or cooking gas, cash deliveries, livestock and animal feed, fertiliser, natural disaster relief, free motorcycles for mudik and return journeys, and essential goods to use the toll roads.

“From 13 to 25 March, a ministerial joint decree on restrictions will be enforced,” he said.

Meanwhile, Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki stated that Operation Ketupat Maung 2026 is not merely a routine agenda. Hengki hopes that all personnel will carry out their duties effectively.

“Idul Fitri security is not simply a routine agenda, but a major task requiring careful planning, comprehensive coordination, and strong inter-agency collaboration,” he said.

Banten Police will anticipate potential congestion at Merak Port whilst providing humanitarian services for homecoming travellers.

“All stakeholders are expected to be able to provide more professional and humanitarian security, and ensure that the public can celebrate Idul Fitri 1447 H safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” he said.
