Menhaj Mochamad Irfan Yusuf Emphasises Three Crucial Points for Hajj 2026
Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, has affirmed the government’s commitment to improving the quality of Hajj pilgrimage services in 1447 H/2026 AD. During his working visit to the Semarang Hajj Dormitory, the man popularly known as Gus Irfan highlighted three crucial points: optimisation of quotas, standardisation of dormitory facilities, and enforcement of rules for Hajj and Umrah Guidance Groups (KBIHU). Gus Irfan emphasised the importance of quickly addressing remaining quotas arising from pilgrims who pass away, fall ill, or withdraw. He instructed regional officials to maximise the Siskohat system so that vacant spots are promptly filled by eligible reserve pilgrims who have completed payments. “The quota issue is very crucial at the national level. I do not want to see even one seat left empty or wasted due to slow administrative mitigation. Every seat represents the hope of pilgrims who have queued for over a decade,” the Minister stressed during a coordination meeting with the Head of the Central Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. In addition to quota administration, Gus Irfan conducted a surprise inspection of facilities at the Semarang Hajj Dormitory. He issued firm instructions that all pilgrim equipment, such as suitcases and Hajj attire, must be fully received by pilgrims before they enter the dormitory. The comfort of elderly pilgrims is a top priority, from the suitability of beds and room air conditioning to the quality of catering. The Minister warned vendors to work professionally and on time. “The face of our ministry’s services is reflected in how we host Allah’s guests in the dormitories. If any vendor is slow or facilities are inadequate, I instruct them to be replaced within days. There is no compromise on pilgrim comfort,” he added. In an effort to create a fair Hajj ecosystem, Gus Irfan warned KBIHU and Regional Hajj Officers (PHD) against seeking privileges. He asked the Central Java Regional Office Head to strictly address any KBIHU attempting to interfere or arrange facilities outside standard operating procedures, such as requests for special room blocks or independent bus arrangements. The Minister hopes that through budget synergy with local governments and firm rule enforcement, the philosophy of “State Presence” can be directly felt by pilgrims. This year’s Hajj operations are targeted to run more transparently, proportionately, and provide maximum comfort for all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
