Menhaj leads arrival of second Amirul Hajj delegation in Saudi Arabia
Makkah (ANTARA) - Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj) Mochamad Irfan Yusuf led the arrival of the second-wave Amirul Hajj delegation at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday (19 May 2026) in the late afternoon local time.
The delegation arrived via the international arrival terminal at about 17:40 Saudi time. The presence of Amirul Hajj in the Holy Land forms part of the Indonesian government’s strengthening of direct oversight over the organisation of the 1447 H/2026 CE Hajj, particularly ahead of the peak Hajj phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina (Armuzna).
“Our presence in the Holy Land is to ensure the Hajj pilgrimage is conducted well. The government wants to ensure all services to pilgrims run smoothly, safely and comfortably, especially ahead of the peak Hajj phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina,” said the Menhaj.
Upon arrival at King Abdulaziz Airport, Menhaj together with the Amirul Hajj entourage were welcomed by the Saudi Haj Organisers’ Officers (PPIH). The Amirul Hajj participants also greeted staff working in the arrivals area as a sign of support for the Indonesian pilgrims’ service in the Holy Land.
According to the Minister, one of Amirul Hajj’s main agendas is to ensure that Armuzna’s operational readiness runs 100 percent. Readiness includes tents and supporting facilities, transport, catering, health services, and the movement scheme for pilgrims during the peak Hajj.
“Armuzna is the most important phase in the administration of the Hajj. Therefore, all service aspects must be ensured ready, from tents, catering, transport, to the management of pilgrims’ movement. Everything must run in a measured, orderly manner and be oriented towards the safety of the pilgrims,” the Minister said.
The Minister also expressed appreciation for all Hajj officers who have worked alongside pilgrims from departure from the homeland until they are in Saudi Arabia. He asked staff to maintain stamina, teamwork, and responsiveness in delivering services to the pilgrims.
“We express our appreciation to all Indonesian Hajj officers. Keep healthy, maintain teamwork and continue to provide the best service to the pilgrims. This service is a great trust that we must carry out with full responsibility,” said the Menhaj.
After arriving in Jeddah, the Menhaj will continue his activities by fulfilling an invitation from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah before continuing the schedule of overseeing Hajj services in the Holy Land.
